The Devamatha Corporate Educational Agency is the Agency concerning the Educational Institutions under the Devamatha Province of the CMI Congregation.  St. Thomas Monastery, Pavaratty, is a Unit under the Devamatha Province.  The land in which the college is situated was originally in the name of the said St. Thomas Monastery, Pavaratty.  Of late there were objections raised by the various educational authorities that the lands should be either in the name of the Educational Agency or in the name of the College.  Therefore, the property bearing survey No. 132/4 was transferred in favour of the St. Joseph Training College, Pavaratty.  Thus from 15-4-2009 onwards the property is in the name of the St. Josephs Training College, Pavaratty.  On behalf of the Devamatha Corporate Educational Agency, the St. Joseph’s Educational and Charitable Trust (Reg. No. 463/IV/2002), is managing the affairs of the St. Joseph’s Training College, Pavaratty.

The college with the B.Ed. programme had its humble beginning on 20th July 2005 with an intake of 100 students. The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut and approved by NCTE. The college offers training in 7 optional subjects, viz., Malayalam, English, Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science, Social Science and Commerce. The D.El.Ed. Programme commenced in 2008.

The Campus
The College is the crowning glory of the St Joseph's campus that has a L.P. School, Higher Secondary School, St. Joseph’s CBSC school, Savio Home (Boys Home), Arts and Science College, the St. Monastery and the Church. The church and the school building present the architectural beauty of last century. The college is offering B. Ed. and D. El. Ed. Programmes.

B.Ed. ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The B.Ed. Degree course (4 Semester) of this college is affiliated to Calicut University. The admission is through a Centrallized Allotment Process (CAP) done by the University of Calicut. The merit of the candidates will be decided on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Being a self-financing institution, the Management seats (50% of the total intake of 100 students) will be filled by the management. Applications to these seats may be sent to the manager directly. The application forms can be collected from the college office. The students are admitted as per the directives of the University of Calicut. Admission Schedule

The admission process is managed by the Directorate of Admissions (DOA), University of Calicut. Every year the DOA announces the details such as Notification Date, Publication of Notification, Date of publication of Rank list, Date of Counseling, Commencement of classes and Date of closing of admission.

D.El.Ed. ADMISSION PROCEDURE

D.El.Ed. is a 4 semester course offered in this college. The course is preparing teachers for the lower primary and upper primary classes. The office of the Director of Public Instruction (DPI),  Thiruvananthapuram, is managing  the admission process. The college has a total intake of 50 students. Of  the 50 seats, 25 seats (50% of the seats)  are in the management quota. The seats are distributed in science subjects (40%)  Humanities (40%) and Commerce (20%). The qualification for admission is plus two. The details will be notified by the DPI in the Website www.education.kerala.gov.in.
